We recognize the significant impact that body image can have on self-esteem, and we are committed to assisting Veterans in transforming scars that adversely affect their self-perception. While the process is lengthy and methodical, it ultimately yields permanent rewarding outcomes rather than immediate gratification. The commitment is a team effort and we are here for it!
According to an article published on February 12, 2015, in VA Research Currents, and conducted by Dr. Kate Chard and her colleagues, the findings indicate that veterans with visible scarring, particularly on areas such as the head, stomach, neck, and arms, experience greater body image distress, as well as elevated rates of depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
